Buckles
To join tape with a buckle, follow the same procedure on each side of the buckle. It is essential to feed the tape to each side so that the excess tape ends finish on the same side of the buckle, otherwise the tape will pull through with the first strong wind.
Tape needs to be well secured against wind pressure at all times.
The weight of a buckle can unbalance tape and make it prone to slight wind flutter, which leads to excessive wear on the tape. If at all possible, fix the buckle as near to an insulator or tensioner as is practical.
